as a teacher i’m always looking for ways to keep up my skills (and improve upon them) to make my classes better and better. this past weekend i was excited to attend candice stringham‘s food styling and photography workshop, held at the adorable new you’re welcome studios over at canopy on the east side. i teach food photography about twice a year and have really come to love it–even though, honestly, i’m not that much of a foodie.
the tips on sourcing props, using directional natural light and telling a story with each image were especially good. and candice and her team from homemade mood had fantastic little scenes set up around the studio that gave the attendees loads of opportunities to try out styling and using the tips they’d just given us.
between learning some new tricks and mingling with other creatives, it was a great way to spend an afternoon! i highly recommend candice’s workshops if you can make it to one. and she teaches online classes, too!
